David 'Bodie' Bailey Photography: Have Camera Will Travel.
Photography has been a big part of my life from 5 years of age. I bought my first camera a Kodak Brownie at a thrift store for .75 cents. I later upgraded to a Kodak 620 Monitor by the age of 12. The same age I learned to develop film and print my work. I've have had many teachers and influences over the years.
I love the role that photography has played in history, recording the ephemeral stuff of life. I purchased my first new camera in1975 a Canon Ftb. I have some deep knowledge of the arcane chemical alchemy of photography. So I worked for about 10 years as a custom printer as an all-around lab-rat. This all served me well until 2003 when I transgressed to digital photography, join the Darkside.
The thing I do is document life, a journey of well over 50 years of exploring. My primary interest is what cultural anthropologist call T.O.A.D.S. Temporary Obsolete Abandoned Derelict Sites. I hope to share my passion for photography with the discovery of places. My other passion is creating whole worlds that I think up and then bring into a photographic reality.
I have always done things differently as a photographer. Most professional photographers shoot personal photos on the side while working on a paid assignment. Almost of all my photos are personal including my total miniature creations. I hope that you like the photographs and the stories. If you do please buy some, it will not offend me. I am glad to hear opinions drop me a line, I'm friendly and like to talk.
